Smart User Liveliness ensures that the document signatory is actively present during the eSigning process. This AI-based technology verifies the real-time presence of the individual in front of the device, guaranteeing that the person initiating the eSign is indeed live and genuine.
By analysing facial cues and other behavioural patterns, Smart User Liveliness ensures signer identity, enhancing the security and integrity of electronic signatures.
In this section, you'll learn how to enable Smart User Liveliness at the department level.

Go to the Invitee Configurations tab.
Under Face Match Verification, enable Smart User Liveliness.
Set the Acceptance Percentage. The Acceptance Percentage indicates the confidence score at which Smart User Liveliness confirms the authenticity of the document signer.
Click Update to save settings.
This section guides you through the process of sending a document with Smart User Liveliness enabled. Follow the same steps for workflow-based sending journeys (Excel and Dashboard) as well.

Here, we outline the signing process with Smart User Liveliness. The signer needs to follow the steps mentioned below to complete the Liveliness check in their signing journey.
Invitee will receive the invitation to eSign the document.
After OTP verification, the signer will see the instructions for Face Capture with Smart User Liveliness.
Next, a camera preview will be shown to the signer. Here they can switch between front or back cameras and also ensure the face is properly visible.
After that, the signer must follow on-screen instructions and place their face in the oval within the set time frame.
The signer will see a success message with 3 face captures.
If the signer is unsatisfied with the outcome, they can click on Retry for another face capture attempt.
The signer encounters a failure message (e.g., Time Out or Threshold not matched).
In case of Time out, the signer needs to retry the face capture attempt and place their face in the oval within the set time frame.
In case, the Threshold is not matched, the signer needs to retry the face capture (If additional attempts are allowed) and make sure they are in a well-lit environment with no accessories on like spectacles, headphones, etc.
Click Proceed in the bottom right corner to eSign the document.
If you have configured both Smart User Liveliness and Face Match then the process of both will be carried out simultaneously in a single face capture. The signer will not be required to separately perform Face Match and Smart User Liveliness. The results of both will be shown on a single screen as well.
The remaining attempts displayed will reflect the lower count between Smart Face Liveliness and Face Match. Once attempts for either verification are exhausted, the signer cannot retry both liveliness and face match.
For example, Face Match has 2 retry attempts and Smart Face Liveliness has 3 retry attempts. Then, After 2 retry attempts the signer cannot do both, neither Face Match nor Liveliness.
The signer can optimise their confidence score by adhering to these best practices during the liveliness check.
Make sure the signer is in a well-lit place.
Only one intended person should be in front of the camera.
Remove accessories like spectacles, masks, hats, headphone, etc.
Set the display’s screen brightness to a maximum level.
The surrounding environment should have fairly uniform light, and not too dark or too bright.
Lighting on the face should be flat, avoiding varied lighting such as shadows.
The signer’s face should have neutral facial expressions with mouth closed and little to no smile.
Minimum video recording resolution: 320x240px.
